Covid-19
Bay Midwives is adhering to CDC guidelines in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19. We are currently carrying out the following changes:
- Consults will be held virtually or via phone
- Scheduling of visits will occur no earlier than 10 weeks gestation unless clinically indicated
- Limiting all in-person appointments to only those deemed clinically necessary. All other appointments will be held via Telehealth as required by current protocols.
- Requesting that all clients inform us if they have come into contact with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms
- Asking that any clients that have come into contact with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms not come to any clinic visits until their COVID status has been resolved
- Pre-screening of clients and anyone in the home for new symptoms or exposures to COVID-19 prior to in-person visits
- Midwifery clients that are COVID-positive during the last month of pregnancy will be referred to a hospital-based midwifery practice for prenatal care. If they complete their isolation/quarantine before delivery, they are encouraged to come back to care with us
- Midwifery clients that are COVID-positive during their delivery are welcome to return to postpartum care once their isolation/quarantine is completed
- Babies born to COVID-positive clients require a 14 day quarantine and will be referred to community providers who can provide the appropriate care during that time
- Midwives with an actual or potential exposure may need to quarantine up to 14 days. They will continue providing telemedicine visits remotely or attempt to arrange in-person visits with other midwives if indicated
- Asking all clients and staff to wash their hands upon entering the birth space
- Asking all adults and children over 3 years of age to wear a face covering (covering both the mouth and nose) during in-person visits
- Limiting the number of birth support people to 2-3 people whenever possible
- Asking all birth support people over 3 years of age to wear a mask during the entirety of labor, birth, and the postpartum period while the midwife is present. The birthing person is not required to wear a mask. We also allow at-home testing prior to the birth if desired and provided by the family in lieu of mask-wearing
- We are are diligently practicing mask-wearing and social distancing in our private lives and kindly encourage you to do the same

Thank you for being considerate of us and the families we serve, and for helping us stop the spread!
After having an induced hospital birth for my first, I was so excited for a birth center water birth. Charlee was attentive and supportive through my contractions. I will never forget when my son was being born, his hand was up by his face. Charlee went to check his neck for the cord and he grabbed her finger with his hand. It was such an awesome moment. Charlee has a calm and knowledgeable presence with an obvious love for her profession.
